In this course you will learn to turn according to the cutting method. We will be working in both fresh and dry wood of various types of wood. Turning in fresh wood according to the cutting method is an experience, it is a lot of fun and much easier than the more common scrub turning in dry wood. The course is aimed at both beginners and more experienced people. Paul adapts the teaching and tasks to each participant’s experience. All participants have access to their own lathe and turning steel.
During the course, you will get to turn pieces of recently felled trees of various types, it can be birch, maple, alder or willow. Many fruit trees have very beautiful veins, perhaps you have some smaller and fresh tree trunks from your own garden to bring?
Course leader is Paul Kovacs from Svarvkompaniet He is one of Sweden’s most skilled turners with extensive experience as a professional turner and fine joiner. Among other things, Paul has done commissions for several museums, for various designers, artists and architects and furniture companies. Paul is a very good teacher and he has been teaching turning for 28 years and has been teaching turning courses at Malmstensskolan in Stockholm for a long time and also at Beckmans School of Design and Art Department. Wood turning is a craft that has fascinated and inspired people for thousands of years.
