Filipsson Gamba Rangstad presenterar självbetitlat debutalbum idag – en resa genom tid och rum om förväntan, vemod och progression! (for English scroll down)

För att fira releasen presenteras en livespelning på anrika Rönnells Antikvariat i Stockholm den 22 februari. Innan dess spelar de live i Martin Sonebys AMK Morgon den 9 januari samt kör en stor releasefest i James & Perras Studio den 13 januari och så kommer de till oss på Not Quite 17 februari!

Genom självbetitlade fullängdaren ”Filipsson Gamba Rangstad”, som presenteras 18 januari, tas lyssnaren med på en resa genom tid och rum. Varje ton ett penseldrag av melankoli, varje melodi en strävan och förväntan om det okända, och varje arrangemang en progression genom ljudlandskapets skiftande alternativa terräng, utformat av förhoppningar om det som komma skall.

Bandet är kontrakterade till säregna och välrenommerade etiketten ST4T, där de ansluter till labeln tillsammans med artistkollegorna 1900 och Ossler.

Filipsson Gamba Rangstad berättar om albumet:
”Det här projektet utgår från den meloditraditionen vi växte upp med. Fånga det där onåbara som känns i magen av anledningar som kanske inte alltid är klara för oss. Som bara melodier kan. Men går det att blicka bakåt utan att bli nostalgisk?

Är det just för att de är gamla som det känns som det gör, eller göms det något där som går att skapa idag? Vi måste testa.”

“Att försöka fånga det ‘traditionella’ i melodiskapande låter just nostalgiskt. Men syftet här är det motsatta. Melodier som en gång föddes i en anda av progressivitet, de ska återigen få visa att världen alltid är bättre i morgon. För alltid. Det ska låta som allt du någonsin hört, men i framtiden. Det ska höras vad vi kommer ifrån, men inte vill tillbaka till. Det ska kännas i magen, men inte av längtan utan av hopp.”

Filipsson Gamba Rangstad är Daniel Filipsson från Ljus, South Ambulance med flera, Daniel Gamba från Markus Krunegård, Kajsa Grytt med flera och Jonas Rangstad från Miljoner Tusen, Pelle Carlberg med flera. Nu sammanstrålade som nya konstellationen Filipsson Gamba Rangstad och något av en supergrupp.

Medmusiker på debutalbumet är Sami al Fakir på bastuba och flygelhorn, Nils Berg på klarinett, Eric Amarillo på altflöjt.

Filipsson Gamba Rangstad presents self-titled debut album today – a journey through time and space about expectation, melancholy and progression! 

To celebrate the release, a live performance will be presented at the venerable Rönnells Antikvariat in Stockholm on February 22. Before that, they play live in Martin Soneby’s AMK Morgon on January 9th and play a big release party in James & Perras Studio on January 13th and then they come to us at Not Quite on February 17th!

Through the self-titled full-length ”Filipsson Gamba Rangstad”, which will be presented on January 18, the listener is taken on a journey through time and space. Each note a brushstroke of melancholy, each melody an aspiration and anticipation of the unknown, and each arrangement a progression through the shifting alternative terrain of the soundscape, shaped by hopes for what is to come.

The band is contracted to the peculiar and well-reputed label ST4T, where they join the label together with fellow artists 1900 and Ossler.

Filipsson Gamba Rangstad talks about the album:

”This project is based on the melodic tradition we grew up with. Capture that elusive feeling in the gut for reasons that may not always be clear to us. As only melodies can. But is it possible to look back without becoming nostalgic?

Is it precisely because they are old that it feels the way it does, or is there something hidden there that can be created today? We have to test.”

”Trying to capture the ’traditional’ in melody creation just sounds nostalgic. But the purpose here is the opposite. Melodies that were once born in a spirit of progressiveness, they will once again show that the world is always better tomorrow. Forever. It should sound like everything you’ve ever heard, but in the future. It should be heard what we come from, but do not want to go back to. You should feel it in your stomach, but not out of longing but out of hope.”

Filipsson Gamba Rangstad is Daniel Filipsson from Ljus, South Ambulance and others, Daniel Gamba from Markus Krunegård, Kajsa Grytt and others and Jonas Rangstad from Miljoner Tusen, Pelle Carlberg and others. Now the new constellation of Filipsson Gamba Rangstad and something of a supergroup came together.
